Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for dropping by my blog and taking a peak.  Now I never claim to know everything, or be perfect, or even being able to spell!  I work really hard to not only be a good photographer, but have a personal connection to my clients and understanding what they want (especially when they might not know).  In addition I love to help others improve their own pictures.  Let's face it...no one can afford a personal photographer to follow them around 24/7 (but if you do know someone give them my name!).

My blog has a collection of advise, current photo experiences and the personal updates.  My new 2012 series (TT- Tipsy Thursday) is a combo of all kinds of questions I've received, things I've seen & even those mistakes I've made in my years of shooting.  I'm ALWAYS in need to know what other people want to hear about, so please email me with ANY suggestions.  Again thanks for stoping by and hopefully you enjoy!

Tipsy Thursday #29

I find there are 3 top things that people don't understand the real danger they present to that expensive electronic you rely on so much on:

  1. Sand & Dust!  When you take a camera to the beach understand if you don't have a serious seal it will get sand inside.  If you MUST bring it put it in a sealable bag EVERY TIME you are not using it.  Dust wont scratch like sand but is more attracted to the electronic sensors inside your camera.  You can once again using a sealable bag helps.  Blowing the camera with pressurized air helps and remember the keys to changing your lenses!  See my previous post http://www.breekiddphotography.com/blog/view/1374/tt__dirty_sensor for more tips.
  2. Sun screen and insect repellent!  Both have chemicals and have no place on your camera.  My key to the sun screen is applying it all at home first, that way I can wash my hands with soap, fresh water and use a good towel.  Second tip is keeping your camera away from body parts with these things on them.  Such as don't let your camera sit in your lap if you sprayed down with bug spray.  Lastly, DO NOT keep your bottles of the chemicals with your camera equipment.  One leak and you'll be kicking yourself!!
  3. Moisture!  This is bad all around from dropping into a body of water or water from above.  I have to explain all the time that cameras are electronics...if it was misting out would you sit out there with your laptop?  NO!  So why risk a camera?  To help save from loosing control and dropping your camera in a puddle/lake/pool or whatever you have water in...make sure to not only put on the strap that came with your camera, but actually use it.  You can put that around your neck, over the shoulder or as I like most of the time...wrapped around my wrist many times.

Tipsy Thursday #28

I found this check list and thought this is the best little reminder of not only getting those pictures of parties or events.  Take a snap shot of some of these great memories for the most part we remember only in our heads.  How cool to have these to look back on when that little one is graduating college!

Now first off I'm a Nikon girl!  But that being said I can appreciate the great work that other brands can do and appreciate our military for an endorsment like this that makes me hold my breath in horror.  Which is what happened in seeing this soldier toss sand and wash his cameras in the shower.  Check out the link below for the video.

Tipsy Thursday #26

Today is my husband's birthday!  Instead of doing photo topic I'd like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY & let him know how much his family and friends love him.  Have a great day babe!!!  This is my hot hunny on the left at the July 4th Parade yesterday with our good friends Strick (former Air Force) & Robert (former Army).
